GLA Networked Utilities.

Whilst I fully realise that most of you are not impacted by GLA, does the problem statement remain the same irrespective of location?
The response to the initiative set up below is not conducive to a collaborative exchange
An interesting discussion for a future meeting perhaps ... Ian ?

Please see below an update on the GLA Networked Utilities.
The GLA commissioned ARUP to prepare a business case on the potential for a demonstrator project to improve collaboration between utilities to primarily address the associated environmental issues associated with congestion resulting from the need to repair and renew the capital’s utilities infrastructure.
Key conclusions from the work undertaken by Arup included:
- A further localised trial was unlikely to provide a sufficient case for all utilities to participate and change their current practices
- That public sector intervention required to support a London-wide demonstrator would cost significantly more than available through the current programme
- In the period to 2019, the benefits of greater collaboration to support a London-wide demonstrator do not exceed the magnitude of the likely public sector contribution required
The GLA will therefore not proceed to the demonstrator delivery phase at this moment in time and accordingly, will not be publishing a call for grant funding proposals, but will continue to explore the potential to deliver this project through alternative means.
We would like to thank you for your time and input into Stage 1 of the process.
